Starting with Fairfields School…

As you will no doubt be aware the Local Authority is well under way with the construction of the main Watling build on Barrosa Way in Whitehouse. Unfortunately however, the build will not be finished in time to hand over to us by September this year.

We have therefore worked with the Council and the Inspiring Futures to Learn Trust (IFtL) to secure the top floor of Fairfields Primary school for our opening in September 2020.

The Council have agreed to a comprehensive refit of the Fairfields top floor to ensure that we can deliver our exciting secondary curriculum from the word go and we are pleased to say that when we open in Fairfields, all the facilities we need to deliver that challenging and exciting Year 7 curriculum will be in place. For example, we will have two dedicated Science labs, a brand-new DT Food technology room and bespoke IT and Music facilities.

We have been working closely with Mr Shotton, Headteacher of Fairfields and his Senior Leadership team to ensure that the two schools can operate distinctly from each other, with different social times, entrances and arrangements for use of the dining hall. We are grateful to him and his team for all the time and effort they have put into communicating with us and the time taken for the advance planning of our temporary co-habitation.

A number of parents have raised the issue of travel to Fairfields as part of the Section 10 consultation process and this is something we have discussed with the Local Authority, who will do a needs analysis in the Spring once we know exactly which children will be joining us.

It is anticipated that we will move into the main build in the Spring term of 2021 and are closely monitoring the development of the build in conjunction with the Council. Naturally, there is an element of frustration surrounding this, which we share, however we can assure you that the move will be worth waiting for and our community will benefit greatly the outstanding facilities the new build will provide.
