Watling Welcomes Chris Curtis MP
Last week, we were delighted to welcome Chris Curtis, our local Member of Parliament for Milton Keynes North, to Watling Academy. His visit was an exciting opportunity for students to gain insight into the workings of government and hear firsthand about the role of an MP in representing our community.
Mr Curtis was given a tour of the school, visiting classrooms and speaking with both staff and students. He was particularly impressed by the range of learning activities taking place and the enthusiasm of our students. During his visit, he took the time to engage with pupils, answering questions about his day-to-day responsibilities, the challenges he faces in Parliament, and his work on issues important to the local area.
Mr Curtis met with a group of students who asked him particularly pressing questions which were important to young people in our school community and wider within the city of Milton Keynes and beyond. He spoke passionately about the importance of young people’s voices in shaping the future and the role they can play in making positive change in their communities. It was a fantastic learning experience for everyone involved, and Mr Curtis was impressed by the thoughtfulness and curiosity of our students.
We are incredibly grateful to Mr Curtis for taking the time to visit our school and share his experiences. His visit has certainly inspired many of our students to think more deeply about politics and the impact they can have on society. We look forward to continuing this important dialogue in the future.
