As we end our first half term of the academic year, it has been lovely to reflect on the events that have taken place this term. It has been a busy, exciting, and rewarding time for everyone, and I am incredibly proud of the collective achievements of our school community. Please see below for a few photos of the highlights of this half term. This week also sees one of my favourite days of the year, when the clocks go back on Sunday 27th October, and there is the potential opportunity for an extra hour of sleep!
On Thursday this week, we are holding our Year 6 Open Evening, which is an important event for the entire school community. We are expecting to welcome nearly 2000 visitors to Watling and our staff and students have been working hard to prepare for the evening, showcasing the very best of what our school has to offer. Our Open Evening is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the vibrant and supportive learning environment that we are so proud of. In advance of the event, I would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who has contributed, from staff who are going the extra mile, to the students who are volunteering their time and energy to ensure the event runs smoothly. These efforts truly reflect the strong sense of community here at Watling and highlight the pride we all take in our school.
Please save the date for our upcoming Family Curry and Quiz Night organised by the Friends of Watling Academy.
📅 Date: Wednesday 27th November
📍 Location: School Canteen
This promises to be a fantastic evening filled with fun, friendly competition, and, of course, delicious food! Get your teams together and come along to test your knowledge across a range of topics, whilst enjoying a meal. Tickets will be available soon, and all proceeds from the night will go towards supporting important school initiatives and resources. Keep an eye out for more information in the coming weeks!
Finally, as we break for half term, I encourage everyone to take the time to rest and recharge so that they are refreshed and ready to return to school on Monday 4th November.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be another fantastic term.
Wishing you all a safe and restful holiday.
