Week 30

I hope you all had a restful bank holiday weekend, this term seems to be flying by incredibly quickly.

This week, we have held GCSE Sociology and Drama exams for our Year 11 students, alongside formal Year 10 Drama exams. Our students are understandably nervous going into the exam season, but we know their hard work and resilience will shine through. Next week, Year 9 begin their end of year assessments in class and Year 11 have their first whole year group written exam, English Literature paper 1. Good luck to you all. Our website holds lots of useful resources to support your child with their exams and revision, Exams – Watling Academy.

The Denbigh Alliance Multi-Academy Trust becomes The Alliance Schools Trust

As you will be aware, Watling Academy is part of a Trust formerly known as The Denbigh Alliance MAT, along with five other schools across Milton Keynes. In order to better represent who we are as a community of schools, the Trust will now be known as The Alliance Schools Trust. This change reflects the Trust’s collective vision, shared values and strengthened commitment to working collaboratively across our schools to deliver exceptional opportunities for students, staff and communities. As such, you will notice the changes reflected across our communications and channels. You can read more about the Trust and the rebrand on their website

Sixth Form Offers

We are delighted that so many of our Year 11 students have applied to continue studying with us next year and yesterday we had the pleasure of sending conditional offer letters to students. We look forward to our Sixth Form induction day on 26th June, where students will begin their transition into Year 12. This is an important milestone for our school community and we are excited to have so many of our current Year 11s joining us next year.

Key Stage 4 Drama and Music Performance

On Wednesday 14th May, our Year 10 KS4 Drama and Music students will be showcasing their talent and creativity in a performance for their parents and carers. Doors will open at 4:30pm for a 5pm start with an approximate end time of 6:30pm. If your child is involved, please see the letter on ParentMail for more information  and be sure to complete the form to give consent and confirm your attendance. I know how hard the students have been working and it would be fantastic to see as many parents and carers there to support them as possible, it promises to be an incredible event.

That’s all for this week, I hope you have an enjoyable weekend – it looks set to be a sunny one!
