Throughout the school year, students have opportunities to take part in a range of school trips. These trips will be linked to student learning, both in and beyond the classroom. This will give students the opportunity to reinforce their knowledge of various curriculum areas, while also developing the key components of an effective learner, such as their problem solving, communication and planning. This includes a variety of trips to develop and enhance student leadership within Watling Academy.
During the 2021-22 academic year students have had the opportunity to attend a variety of trips. There have been:
- Curriculum opportunities such as attending the Milton Keynes Maths Challenge, DT students competing in the V & A Innovation Finals, Young Women in Stem and participation in the finals for both the National Spelling and Translation Bees for Spanish.
- Sporting opportunities such as attending the Junior NBA Competition, MK Schools and Bucks Cross Country, as well as a variety of fixtures and tournaments throughout the year.
- Leadership opportunities such as attending the Anti Bullying conference, Parks Trust trip to Middleton Wood to plan trees for our Eco Council, who also attended the Climate conference.
- Aspirational opportunities such as the University Outreach to Oxford University.
Each year there will also be our annual trips days. Students will participate in a variety of activities and trips, including visits to popular UK attractions such as Thorpe Park and Whipsnade Zoo. Students may also choose to take part in activities taking place onsite at Watling Academy, such as sports, craft and design and gaming.
Our Educational Trips and Visits Policy can be found on the Policies and Statutory Information page.
