From Year 9

  • Aneja – Laine

The competition took place in their respective assemblies in front of the rest of their year group and students had one minute to correctly translate into either Spanish or Mandarin as many sentences as possible. For the students taking part, as well as demonstrating their impressive ability to translate sentences into another language, it was a great opportunity for them to improve their confidence speaking in front of a large audience. For those watching, it was fantastic to witness what can be achieved through hard work and perseverance. A huge well done to all those who took part and congratulations to the winners!

The winners of the competition for Mandarin:

  • Talasya – Marshall
  • Mishika – Rutherford

The winners of the competition for Spanish:

  • Kirstiella – Rutherford
  • Raghav – Leyh

For Spanish, the winners of the School Competition will now compete in a regional final against other schools in the Southeast of England and if successful, they may go on to compete in a national final. As the Mandarin Translation Bee is new this year, the two winners of the School Competition go straight to the national final. Please wish these students luck if you see them!
